Team Chicken (Alwyn,Kate and Emma!) are competing in the Blenheim Triathlon on Sunday 5th June to raise money for the Battery Hen Welfare Trust.

Having passed the mere 40 milestone a while back, Penny (Alwyn's wife) had promised herself to add a few chickens to the family. However when the big 50 came around and there were still no happy hens at home, she signed up with the BHWT and along came Nugget, Duckie, Edith, Dragonheart, Nessa and our current sole remaining flock member, Joyce.

The pleasure that these 6 ladies have given us from their arrival in oven ready silent form, to first feeling the sun on thier back and learning to dust bath and then to scratch in the ground  has been immeasurable. They are legends in their own right! Alwyn has, as a result, been off on a Backyard Poultry course,his hallowed vegetable garden has been subject to decimation by their attentions while the cats are suitably respectful of the ladies' superiority when faced with an outstretched wingspan and a well aimed peck! 

So what better way to support the work of this fantastic charity than for two of our vets and our Deputy Head Nurse to go swimming, cycling and running round the beautiful Blenheim estate?!
