My story

Dear All

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. My decision to run the marathon was not taken lightly and I am now fully in to my training programme.

I am sure many of you, like me, are concerned at the growing number of homeless people on the streets of London. Whenever I come across such an individual, I am in two minds as to whether to give them some money or walk on by and ignore them. In a supposedly civilised country, I find this situation unacceptable and am therefore running the marathon as a means of raising money to help such people off the street and in to employment.

The Westpinster Pastoral Foundation (wpf), trains counsellors and provides counselling, not only to the homeless but also to people who have suffered from drug and drink related problems and depression, caused by any number of factors including relationship and work problems. These services can be hugely expensive in the private sec tor and are often underprovided in the NHS. The provision of counselling allows individuals in need, to develop personally and live with greater self-confidence, so they are able to get a new job or improve their personal relationships. Better still, going forward they will be equipped to deal with life’s hurdles. Please give generously.

Kind regards

Rob
