My story

Thank you for visiting our sponsorship page! Please dig deep in your pockets for this worthwhile cause:

Burness is sponsoring the "Ken Nevis challenge". In short, this unique and wonderful event will see us competing against other teams running up Britain's highest peak, "Ben Nevis". Ah, but there's a catch. Each team will be led by a wheelchair user, who will navigate and direct the team up the mountain in the quickest time!

Ex-SAS TV Presenter and engineer of the BBC's Beyond Boundaries series, Ken Hames , is joining forces with Scope and Capability Scotland, two of the UK's leading disability charities, to lead 10 teams on a challenging expedition to the top of Britain's highest peak, Ben Nevis  on 31 May 2008.

Inspired by recently crossing the Andes with two disabled expedition members who were wheelchair users in his Beyond Boundaries 3 documentary, Ken has decided to throw down the gauntlet to UK companies with the Ken Nevis Challenge.

The REASON:
The real mission is to raise funds and raise awareness of the work Scope and Capability Scotland do across the UK to support disabled people to achieve equality, whilst invigorating and developing teams from the UK's leading companies. This event forms a great platform to help build an effective and successful team, where resilience, versatility and group skills will all be pushed to the limit. Each team will not only develop these skills, but will be helping Scope and Capability Scotland towards their goal of raising funds from this challenge.

IN ORDER FOR US TO COMPETE, OUR TEAM WILL NEED TO RAISE £10,000! This will be put towards the overall goal of raising £200,000 for the charities.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! How fitting that the charities relate to capability. We are all "capable" and "able" to help those in need. We just find justifications and excuses for not doing so. There are many great causes out there, but I do hope you can find space in your wallets and hearts for this fantastic cause. We are not talking about change, we are not just raising awareness. We are proving that people like you and me can make a difference and actually change lives. We are giving people a chance to do something that previously they could only dream about.
