I am thrilled to announce that I reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro on Thursday 13th October. It was a fantastic experience that I will remember always. I am really pleased with the support I had in terms of fundtraising and training and I thank everybody who helped along the way.

I am pleased to be able to support MS as my mother was diagnosed some 15 years ago and throughout all of her good and bad days, she has worked tirelessly to support the Isle of Wight branch ever since, and it's about time I did some fundraising!

The trip lasted 12 days during and I trekked up to a height of over 19,300 ft (that's over 4 times the height of Ben Nevis). Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world and the final days trek to the summit entailed a tough 15 hour day at high altitude.

I trained really hard to ensure my success not only in dealing with the actual trekking but also to make sure I coped with the altitude (well I did sort of cope!)
