The reason  for this event is to raise money for researching the cause and hopefully a cure for multiple sclerosis.

I lost my daughter, Alison, in '08 due to primary progressive multiple sclerosis.    She suffered for 13 years with the disease.   For the last 4/5 years she could not move any part of her body except her head.    She could not talk, eat or drink., or see very well.   As she had been an English literature teacher, this was hard for her.  All food etc. went in through a peg in her stomach.   Imagine not being able to enjoy food or drink.   She was living in a straight jacket with a brain.   She could not stay out of bed for more than 4 hours each day, as ms in very fatiguing.

We, her husband Jack who was her main carer, and brilliant with her, her father and mother, tried to make her life as interesting as possible: taking her out to shopping centres, parks and other places of interest as often as we could (subject to her feeling well enough.   Although she could not talk to people, she loved listening to conversations.   Her only response was to blink for 'yes' and move her head from side to side for 'no'.   She could laugh which she did often.

Especially someone else's downfall, such as knocking undewear stalls down when i was shopping in BHS for new underwear.

I miss Alison more than i could ever have imagined.   I now worry that there are young girls (as it affects more women than man) enjoying life who may contact this killer disease probably between 25 - 35 years, and if they get primary progressive multiple sclerosis, they only way is  down, and eventual death.

All money raised will go to 'The Alison Dobson Star Fund' and then on to  Cambridge University's Research Team.

Please, please donate to this very worthy cause.
