We are competing in the Sucata Run 2010!
The Sucata Run is a bargain basement rally tour where teams of up to 4 people drive to Europe's most westerly point in 4 days, in bangers costing no more than £250. It takes place over the August bank holiday weekend (26th - 30th) and culminates at the breath taking Guincho beach on the Portuguese coast. The tour kicks off in Normandy's stunning capital, Rouen, and cars rattle their way through 2000km of the most stunning scenery to Cabo da Roca, in Portugal.
With the money raised by the Sucata Run this year Gemin-i.org are planning to run a project to raise awarness of Malaria. Students from schools around the globe will be able to learn more about the disease. They will explore the reasons why so many people still die from Malaria and what is being done by humanitarian aid agencies to prevent this.
Through participation in his project, young people will be able to join the global effort against Malaria. They will hear of how governments and aid organisations are fighting the disease, they will talk to other children in affected regions, and they will be given the opportunity to design their own awareness raising campaign on the theme of Malaria prevention.
Each £1000 raised by teams taking part in this event will pay for 5 schools to take part in this project. The more schools that they can involve, the bigger an impact they can have around the world.
