Story
This is just to share details of a cycling challenge I'll be doing on Sunday 29th March 2015 in aid of Myeloma UK.
Myeloma is a form of bone marrow cancer and a close friend, Jez Mayo, has been fighting it successfully for over 10 years. Jez and I first played village cricket together for Stonor in Oxfordshire many years ago. Jez now plays league cricket for his local village of Woodcote while I play league cricket in my local village of Peppard. As all of these picturesque cricket clubs are closely located in the Chiltern Hills I’ve decided to do a cycle marathon in a 26.2-mile lap between the three cricket grounds to raise money for Myeloma UK.
On Sunday 29th March 2015 my goal will be to cycle as many laps of this 26-mile route as possible, starting at sunrise at 6.30 a.m. Each lap will involve a total climb of over 450 metres. I will be joined on each 26-mile lap by a different fellow cyclist to help spur me on! As this will be an endurance event I’ll need to put in a lot of cycle training over the coming months, so I’ll aim to keep you posted on progress.
All the best, Oliver.
