Hi all,
Thank you so much for visiting my charity page.
Last year I set out to see if I could run a seemingly impossible race. To run 120km through the Namib desert for someone that have never run even a marathon was questionable indeed. Many people doubted me, even close friends that saw me train thought that maybe I had bit off more then I could chew. I made the race, but failed in a second race 4 weeks later, when I dropped out after 50km.
This year I have raised the bar and set out to do 5 extreme races, in as many months. However, in doing so, can more be achieved? Last year I raised money for an African Charity. This year I am choosing a charity closer to home. Many of us have been in immediate contact of people touched by cancer. My efforts this year will be to raise money to Cancer Research UK.
Last year many of you helped me to get through the dark times in the Namibian Ultra race. I read and re-read your notes of support, and it made me stronger. At one point, after 80km into the race, I was lying on my back, absolutely exhausted, thinking about the next 40km I would have to cover. But I had a grin on my face, because I knew that so many of you supported me. Reading these notes helped immensely.
I am very grateful for any support and sponsorship. It really helps me to load up with strength for 2009 race series!
Please follow my progress on my web site Namibian Viking (http://www.namibianviking.com).
THANK YOU!
