I am part of a team made up of students and staff from Leeds Metropolitan university who are traveling to Peru in september to help at a childrens refuge. The project we will be undertaking involves rebuilding a soup kitchen.
We will be staying at the refuge funded by project Peru which looks after children who otherwise would not have the support they need. In order to go on this fantastic trip each person has to raise ₤1000 each! This money goes directly to thr project! This money does not in any way pay for the trip, we the volunteers cover the cost of that ourselves!
In order to raise this money we will all be undertaking as many fundraising activities as possible! one of which involves all the volunteers walking the Inca trail in Peru, which leads to the city of Machu Picchu.
Project Peru is an amazing UK based charity which highlights the largely unknown poverty in Latin America and provides food, clothing and shelter for children in need.
