Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As many of you know, my long locks have been a trade mark of mine for many years - iv worn it long since I was12 years old! However, the time has now come for a drastic change!
During the first half of this year, Cancer has touched my family, and not for the first time. It has become clear to me that the work completed at the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury is not only essential, but unique in its set up. The new facility was opened in January 2001 & The Cancer Care and Chemotherapy Unit and Haematology department were brought together under the same roof. This was achieved by a charitable appeal and £1.2m was raised. Chemotherapy, complementary drugs, holistic therapies and counselling are now all contained under one roof. Continued charity work has now enabled the building to be extended, and supports the salaries for three additional nurse posts for the Unit, as well as supporting the staff by financing training opportunities.
Funding as you imagine, is a constant worry for the Unit and . This is why I have chosen to have all 16inches of my hair cut off and into a pixie crop on Sept 19th 2009. The hair that is cut off will be donated to a charity called the Little Princess Trust, who will use the hair donated to them to make real hair wigs for children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatments.
This is a charity I dearly want to support, following the loss of two very special men, Roy and Bob & also for my cousin who is currently undergoing treatment at the Unit. If I can raise £500 through sponsorship, I will gladly cut off my hair knowing it is for a very, very good cause.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Cancer Care And Haematology Fund will get your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, is added to your donation.
Please, Please sponsor me now!
Thank you xxx
