Eaves' ethos is to put women first. It provides services to support and promote the interests of vulnerable, excluded and exploited women and children. These include women trafficked into prostitution in the UK, homeless women with additional support needs, women and children fleeing domestic violence. The charity also conducts essential research on all issues of violence against women.

My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Last year we raised 900 squid for Diabetes UK, and I did the ba**ard run in 58mins 10 seconds. This year I'm aiming to beat that fundraising total, pretty please, and hopefully get my time under 55 mins.

I'm running for a charity called Eaves, check them out on http://www.eaves4women.co.uk/ and more specifically I've asked Eaves to use the funds I raise for a project they run called The POPPY Project.

The POPPY Project was set up in 2003. It is funded by the Office for Criminal Justice Reform (reporting to the Ministry of Justice) to provide accomodation and support to women who have been trafficked into prostitution in the UK. It has 35 bed spaces in houses throughout London.

The POPPY Outreach Service works to improve the safety and wellbeing of women from all over the UK who have been trafficked and who are in need of short term support and advocacy.

POPPY Research and Development provides education, training and lobbying to raise awareness about trafficking and exiting prostitution.

I can think of few things more terrifying than being forced into prostitution in a foreign unknown country. Many women think they are being helped into the UK to work and start a new life, yet are forced into horrific sex slavery.
