Why your donation matters

It costs over £8,000 a day to rescue and care for the animals at NAWT. As we do not receive any Government support, and are not eligible for lottery funding we rely solely on the support and generosity of the general public.

In this, our 40th anniversary year we have been looking back at our roots and all the changes that have happened in rescue and rehoming over the years.

Since those early days, we've never stopped making sure all our animals get the love and attention they derserve while we find their forever homes. For some it's the first kindness they have ever received.

High quality rescue costs more than ever due to the escalating prices of food, energy and veterinary bills.

An absolute rule of the Trust is that no healthy animal is ever put to sleep.

Case study: donations in action

We launched an appeal for Rose, a deaf Collie puppy with a major heart defect.

Four & half month old Rose was living on borrowed time. Rose had just 6 weeks to have corrective heart surgery before she goes into heart failure. The surgery to close a blood vessel had be performed by a specialist at a cost of £5,000.

The puppy, affectionately named Rose, is a female Collie & was brought into the Somerset centre for re-homing. Originally bred to be working dog at a busy yard, it soon became clear that Rose cannot hear the large, on-site vehicles and for her own safety she could not remain there.

Unfortunately the family who brought Rose into our Somerset branch couldn't afford to pay for the surgery. Rose proved to have a great personality & we decided to try to save the puppy as well as re-home her after the surgery.

With the support and generosity of the public we raised the required funds for the specialist operation. Rose is now happy & healthy in her forever home
