Team,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I really do not usually I am participating in a charity opportunity with 23 other HTS colleagues in Mtubatuba, Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa to help an orphanage
In Mtubatuba, a lady by the name of Mrs Myeni has over the last few years taken it upon herself to provide for the orphans of the local area. With minimal assistance she has managed to build a small drop-in feeding and care centre for 140 orphans of school age, ensuring they get at least one good meal a day. She also looks after 26 pre-school age orphans in the afternoon.
Hopefully with the help of the HSBC HTS programme, we can build a permanent building for the Care Centre. Currently they have a small half finished building that provides space for cooking and administration. All paperwork and documentation for the children is done manually and all applications for registration of children with no parents or papers are processed by hand.
Mrs Myeni also wants to set up a skills centre and garden that will not only help give children skills they can use when they grow up, but that will also provide income for the centre, to ensure it is self-sustaining. This will include computer training, garment manufacture and craft manufacture along with formalization of a vegetable garden. Currently it is cultivated to provide food for the children, but with a small investment it could also produce surplus that the local supermarket have agreed to buy, if available.
This is just a snipit of what is possible. Happy to answer questions but really need your help.
