Yesterday I ran the Ben Nevis race and thanks to everyone who supported me (and are going to support me) in raising money for the Pipar Project.

I have put a race report and some photos on the Carnegie Hillbillies Blog Hill Running

I am running the Ben Nevis Race on Saturday the 5th of September this year to raise money for a charity that is focused on preserving local environment and communities in Nepal.

Ben Nevis is Britain's highest mountain at 4406 feet. The race is about 10 miles long and 4400 feet of climbing up and then running back down again.  "The most daunting hill race in Scotland, with the roughest toughest descent"

The money raised will be used for the Pipar Project (pronounced Pee-par) which aims to build schools and employ teachers in rural communities in Nepal. The World Pheasant Association  has a long-standing commitment to education in the surrounding villages near Pipar, at 3,300m in the Annapurna Himalayas by funding teachers’ salaries, building and renovating schools and their classrooms. This has vastly improved the availability of education to many children in the area, who previously had to walk up to four hours to get to school or did not attend at all.

A pound spent in Nepal can achieve a lot more than a pound spent in the UK.  My wife Mehrnaz ran the London Marathon in April this year. She raised £440 which was used to pay a local teachers salary for one year. So thank you so much for your support and I hope you can support me in running up (and back down) Ben Nevis.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: World Pheasant Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
