Story

Post-ride update:
I am pleased to say that the five of us who set off from Thavies House in Holborn Circus on Saturday morning all arrived safely and together at Park Central 5 hours 20 minutes later, with one puncture and some much needed energy food/drink consumption at various points on the route.

Congrats to Derek for his (feisty) pace setting! Dave for his climbing ability (and for his sensible decision to use the bike with gears!); Stefan for his ox-like strength leading us out for the final 8 miles; Tom for his courage after a mid-way blip in energy resources; Sam and Charlotte for their help in the support vehicle; and Vicky for a sterling effort in preparing some refreshments for us and a welcoming party on arrival.

We all enjoyed it immensely, not least because we have raised a scratch under £2000. Thank you all for your generosity.

One phrase kept coming up in the post-ride discussions:

"Next year ..."

Neil

Pre-ride message:

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

This year we decided to take tap into the energetic enthusiasm and athleticism of Oxera staff and set up a cycle ride from our new London office to our base in Oxford.

It will be held on 22nd November 2008, and will be around 65 miles (subject to any wrong turns!).

All money raised will be for the BBC Children in Need campaign, for which Oxera fund-raises every year. Please do sponsor us to make this our highest donating year ever.

Sadly, one of our team, Sam Blackie, will not now be able to join the ride after being knocked off his bike on Wednesday morning. Bruised but not broken. Sam - good luck from us all for a speedy recovery.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: BBC Children in Need gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!
