As many of you know, I am a big old unit. If the good old Banking system dries up for me I could probably make a few quid as a body double for James Corden...........
I know it will shock and surprise you that I often struggle for breath after running for a Bus and the 'ol meat and two veg can only be viewed by hovering over a mirror nowadays........
I have been Inspired by my friends Amanda and Andy Campbell who both recently completed the London Marathon for a Charity very close to their hearts and mine....PARC....so have decided to do my bit for this great cause too...........
Amanda and Andy have an incredible son called Joshua. He is a twin to his brother Edward. He has cerebral palsy, is profoundly deaf and has chronic lung disease but the best smile in the world! Josh needs constant support, he is totally reliant on someone for all aspects of daily living, he can not even sit unaided. He is a sunny happy bright little boy so needs constant support to help him develop and to be given opportunities other children have. They say he will never walk or talk, but Amanda and Andy say never say never.
The last few words on the above wording (ripped from their own fund raising page) is what the Campbell Family are all about. Giving their time, effort, emotion and heart into everything they do to ensure Joshua and many others who suffer similar or even very different problems get as much support, friendship and happiness as possible and allow the families of these guys to enjoy some freedom or solace as well.
So.............SPICEY is giving up the FAGS. Not Smoking. This is for me in the long run but I figure, the longer I live, then the more I can support this amazing charity and amazing family.
Yeah, I know, you thought I was going to run the marathon!!! Well I am giving up the fags so I can try a 5k Fun Run later in the year......I may be stretching myself in 2010 and go for the 10K!
So please, please, please dig very very deeply and donate what you can afford. I can honestly say, having been to the center myself it is an amazing place and is not subsidised by any government funding and needs all the help it can get to keep providing a loving safe and fun environment for these brillaint kids......oh and if appilcable lets not let the Revenue get what could be used for these guys!!!
Time is ticking along and it is now less than a week before i give up the smokes. I'll be honest and say that I am very nervous!
