Story
On Saturday 1st February 2013, my Mum, took control of a disease that dictated how she should live for the last 16 years of her life, MS. She took the brave decision to ask the doctors to withdraw her treatment. A week later she passed away. It was sunny that day.
Mum was diagnosed with secondary progressive MS when she was 40 years old. The relapsed progressed over the years and slowly took away her dignity and left her unable to do the things most people take for granted, like walking and talking, but she never let it take her smile.
Last year, my cousin ran the London Marathon for the MS Society, this year it's my turn, to raise some cash...
MS is a terrible disease. I hope one day there is a cure, but I'm realistic. MS Suffers need better support and availability of respite care, appropriate to their age group, to improve their quality of life and that of their carers. This was a challange for Mum. So here's the deal...
