Hi!
In August 1998 my Dad told me he had been suffering with prostate cancer for over a year. On January 26th 2001 he passed away under the care of Bury Hospice. My Dad was well liked by many people and I was extremely close to him. He spent many of his days laughing and joking with people and always had a great story to tell. He was often seen riding round the streets of Manchester on a fold away bike! Strange but true! He loved cycling around enjoying the fresh air!
I plan to cycle the 60 miles from Manchester to Blackpool on Sunday 13th July. Entry money from the event goes towards Christie's Hospital where my Dad spent quite a bit of his time. It is great to raise money for Christie's but I would also like to help the organisation where my Dad spent his last days. I will be hoping to raise money separately for Bury Hospice.
Bury Hospice cares for local people who suffer with life-threatening or terminal illness. They rely on donations and fund raising to give the first class care they do. My Grandad and Dad spent their last days there and I know they were well looked after. I just want to give something back.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bury Hospice Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
I am hoping to cycle the 60 miles in 3 hours or under, which means I will have to be averaging at least 20mph, which on a bike is quite fast! Feel free to meet me at the end!
If the donations I raise help a family spend one more day with a loved one then I will be a happy man.
Thank you very much
