Liz Thomas was assigned to Nick and I a year ago in the week that he was diagnosed with cancer.

Since then Liz has been with us whenever we needed her - to answer hundreds of questions, offer advice, help us deal with fear and more than anything, to make sure that Nick didn't suffer any more pain than he had to.

Liz was with Nick and his family when he died and has made the whole journey much more bearable for us. She has been a tower of strength and will continue to be, I'm sure.
