My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online (if you want to!!!!!!!)

I am having a go at the Grand Union Canal Run - Britain's longest continuous foot race!

The event is 145 miles (although the maps say 147!?) from Birmingham to London. There is a time limit of 45 hours and you are not allowed to stop for longer than 40 minutes. As you might imagine I am feeling very very apprehensive about it. Have managed 85 miles at the Ridgeway in August, and recently completed about 110 miles over 2 days. I have been doing a fair few 30 mile runs, and a number in the region of 50 miles.

I am probably going to be getting some kind running support from Greame, Gail, Michelle and Ian - all from Almost Athletes (Cheltenham's friendliest running club!) which will be a huge help....as long as I can get to 75 miles! My friend Anita has been keeping my legs in shape with lots of sports massage as they have been grumbling a lot with the high mileage I have been doing.

I chose Maggie's centre in the Cotswolds because it is our current club charity, and although (touch wood) I don't have any first hand experience with cancer, it will bring help to a lot of people. Also the fact that the Cotswold centre will cover counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire (I'm from Worcester but now live in Cheltenham) and Gloucestershire will mean that if you are kind enough to sponsor me, a charity that you may use one day (but hopefully not obviously) can benefit.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Maggie's Centres will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Thanks heaps for your support.
