My story

                    "The toughest footrace on Earth"

This is the reputation that a 150 mile race across the Sahara Desert in Africa has gained.  Temperatures often reach 40-50ºC and sand storms sweep through the route on a regular basis.   This is what I will be doing, along with 700 other lunatics, in order to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK, carrying everything I need to survive on my back, including snake antivenom!

The race takes place over 7 days from the 25th to the 31st of March 2007 with the 150 miles broken up into 6 stages, the longest of which is a mere 50 miles!  Apart from the extreme heat, running in the desert means running on sand, which also inevitably equals big blisters, often so big that they cover the entire sole of your foot.  You can find more information about the Mrathon Des Sables at:

I wanted to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK having recently lost a close family friend to pancreatic cancer and after some research I was shocked at the still extremely high mortality rates and the decreased exposure this disease receives in comparison to other terminal illnesses. With your help i hope to raise some much needed funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK and hopefully in doing so increase awareness of this illness as best I can.
