Dear Friends and family of Nicky,
Almost two years have passed since we last saw Nick's amazing smile! The feeling of loss is still very strong in our hearts and I'm sure most of us think about him everyday.... missing his voice, smile and more than anything his company! We remember the good times we shared but also how we watched him fight the disease... which can only give us strength to go forward instead of giving up.... because Nick never gave up and fought until the very last breath.
With an empty feeling, I'm lost for words really and don't know what to say to you all, except even though we've lost a very special person to Leukaemia, we can still make a difference to the lives of others who are suffering from this disease that so cruelly snatches away their lives. With medicine and cures improving everyday, there is no reason why we ourselves cannot help speed up this process and save the lives of people who are going through the same thing as Nick did. To advance medical cures, research relies on donations.... no matter how big or small!!
I've set up this page for those that feel they want to contribute something to 'Leuka' - which is the leading Leukaemia research department at the Hammersmith Hospital, where Nick spent his time.
Nothing can ever bring back Nicky - our brother, son, cousin, nephew, grandson or great friend!! but there are a couple of things we can do that might make the pain just a little bit more bearable. First of all, to learn to appreciate our own lives and of the ones we love that are still with us. Finally, we can contribute just a small fraction of our hard earned cash to research, which in turn will one day develop a cure for Leukaemia and not allow others to go through the loss that we have.... but more importantly that young people suffering from this disease can be cured and continue to live a full life.
