Yorkshire Cancer Centre – aiming higher fighting cancer The new wing at St James's Institute of Oncology will centralise and expand cancer services and provide treatment for a catchment population of 2.6 million people throughout Yorkshire. Charitable donations are vital in helping to provide supplementary facilities and patient comforts not usually available through NHS budgets.

My story

At the beginning of the year it was felt that some of us at Irwin Mitchell needed a
challenge, motivation to lose weight, or just simply an opportunity to do some fundraising for other individuals and we decided to form a team to enter the Leeds 10K on 21st June 2009.

And I'M RUNNING was born!!

The following individuals have decided to put their feet to the test:-
Andrew Sloan, Joanne Fraser, Ian Bailey, Ian Toft, Ben Mitchell, Caroline Deighton, Peter Morris, Pippa Spowage, Karen Brooks, Victoria Lech, and myself!!!

We are unsure how we will do but hope to finish the 10K all in one piece! The one thing that we all hope we will be succesfful at is raising funds for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre!

The Yorkshire Cancer Centre Appeal will fund:

● environmental and arts projects that uplift, soothe and heal patients

● ground breaking clinical research that will lead to new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer

● specialist medical and scientific equipment that keeps the very latest cutting-edge technology an accessible reality

● comfort and care the smaller items for wards and departments that make a huge difference to every day patient care.
