I did it! In a slow and not very respectable 5hr12 but it is done... and what a fab day, I would recommend it to anyone thinking of doing it. Brilliant crowd, great music!
AND most importantly why (even if I was upstaged by a womble in his eyes!): After arriving a month early our eldest son, William, started out life with a 3 week stay at the Chelsea and Westminster neonatal intensive care unit. He suffered with pneumonia, septicaemia and meningitis but is thankfully now a healthy, somewhat stubborn and opinionated 5 year old!
We think that Bliss is an amazing charity. Not only does it fight for the rights of babies who are born early or sick to receive the incredible care that William did, but it also provides emotional support to parents who are trying to make sense of the whole thing. We can't thank them and the medical staff enough.
I vowed at the time that I would do something to try to pay back all of this support that we received from both the C&W Hospital and Bliss. I should clearly have just blamed crazy hormones and forgotten the whole thing. Instead I have, stupidly, signed up to run the London Marathon in April 2010.
I know it's going to be horrible... but I'm as ready as I'll ever be!!! Thank you for any support you can give.
Nicky
