About our charity : The Ellen MacArthur Trust The Ellen MacArthur Trust
The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illness. Sailing is perfect for these children; it gives them a chance to test themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Simply the experience of going out on the water for the first time is an adventure. Each child has the challenge of helping sail the yachts throughout the voyage and takes part in all aspects of the trip from sailing the yacht to the washing up! The children come from all over the country, including Northern Ireland, London, Essex, Sheffield, Dorset, Wiltshire, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, Nottingham & Ellen’s birthplace, Derbyshire.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I have been asked to shave my hair completely for a film I am doing about Alopecia and I was in 2 minds whether to do it.

I then remembered my friend Dawn who was one of my best friends, we went to Brownies together and she died of Leukemia.  She was amazing so strong about it all. When I saw her when all her hair had gone, i fainted - and was so embarrassed. I want to do this in memory of her and make something positive out of  shaving my hair, going completely bald - not a no. 4!

This charity I have found is aimed at kids recovering from Leukemia and Cancer, taking them sailing, I personally find the water very healing and happy place and hope these kids do too
