I have decided to walk the old Pilgrim Trail, the Camino, to Santiago de Compostela in Spain with good friends. It will be a challenge; the distances between the albergues, the hostels along the way, are between 15 and 25 kms.  

There are many Caminos, roads leading to Santiago, throughout Europe. We are walking the Camino Ingles from Ferrol on the northern coast of Spain, a week's walk, in September 2008. Then we take on the Camino Portugues, from Porto in the north of Portugal to Santiago, a two week walk, in March 2009. If all is well, I might just be starting on the Camino del Norte after that, and then the six week Camino Frances - and you can help me raise money for WaterAid as I go!

I really can't imagine what it must be like not to have cool, clean, clear, safe water readily available - we will be needing lots of it on the Camino - and would like everyone to donate any amount to WaterAid to help supply safe drinking water for those who have none.

If you would like to buy me a pint for my efforts, please donate and give water instead. £15 would secure safe drinking water for someone who needs it. I would also like donations instead of cards and presents for birthdays and Christmas. Every little helps, and it would be very much appreciated!
