Help us to reach our target (see below*) and the Nurture Lakeland team will undertake a full day of practical conservation to help look after the Lake District. You can choose what type of hard labour we should undertake!

- A - Practical Footpath Maintenance – We’ll head up the hills which a shovel in one hand and a brush in the other to support the Fix the Fells Project.
- B - Helvellyn Fell Care Day – We’ll help the Friends of the Lakes District in a practical conservation task to protect this iconic mountain through their Flora of the Fells project.
- C - Squirrel Survey – We’ll help carry out a monitoring survey in local woodland of these beautiful, fluffy but endangered creatures.
- D - Litter pick – We’ll help clear a community area in Carlisle making it a happier and cleaner place!
The money raised will help Nurture Lakeland continue its vital work promoting responsible tourism to protect the stunning landscape, amazing wildlife, fantastic communities and wonderful culture of this beautiful county.
Go the Distance – what’s it all about?
Nurture Lakeland is challenging both local people and visitors to Cumbria, to collectively travel as many miles as they can without the use of their car to raise money to encourage responsible tourism across the county.
The average person will drive over 300 miles during their holiday in the Lakes, so the aim is to try to get 300 sponsored miles during the challenge, using any form of transport other than the car.
The Go the Distance Challenge will take place during the Ullswater Outdoor Festival, from the 24 September - 2 October at which Nurture Lakeland is the official charity partner.
