THEY DID IT!!!!!!! but read on
Three Army Cadets from Morpeth Detachment of Northumbria ACF did the tandem Parachute jump with the Parachute Regiment's famous “Red Devils” to raise money for injured service personnel from Afghanistan, Iraq and other theatres where the British Armed Forces have been deployed.
Cadet Staff Sergeants Robbie Clark, 18, Daniel Caskey, 18, and Daniel Kirkup 17, saw the Archbishop of York on TV doing something similar and thought that if he could do it they should also do something for our Armed Forces.
They approached their Detachment Commander, Colour Sergeant Gordon Watson and Detachment Instructor Sgt Steve 'Foz' Forrest who are both former members of the Parachute Regiment, and asked them if they could contact the Red Devils on their behalf.
A date for 2nd October 2008 was fixed and they did do the jump and the money will be split between "Help for Heroes" and "The Airborne Forces Charities." Charity No 1090978
They have set a very ambitious target so please spread the word.
The cadets received the following message of support from the Archbishop of York
“I was delighted to hear of the fundraising efforts undertaken by the Northumbria Army Cadet Force on behalf of Help the Heroes and Airborne Forces charities. Please accept my congratulations and blessing for the parachute jumps taking place at Langar on 2 October 2008. I hope that the cadets gain a wonderful experience on the day and that many people take the opportunity to ease the financial burden on these brave people who have already given so much”.
Dr John Sentamu, Archbishop of York
We have received a cheque for £100 from Sir John Riddell, the Lord Lieutenant of Northumberland and the following message:-
...and I am glad to support Staff Sergeant Daniel Kirkup and his two fellow cadets in their three man jump to help raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes.

Sadly the cadets did dot achieve their target but in the spirit of the Parachute Regiment, and remembering who they are trying to help, they plan to carry on, and are even as we write thinking of more ways of achieving their target. Please feel free to donate, or come back in a short while to see what the Morpeth Cadets come up with next.
