The Run The Sucata Run is a charity rally from Home to Rouen, France then from Rouen to Cabo da Roca, Portugal over 4 days in a vehicle costing no more than £250. Finding the car is vthe easy bit, getting to Cabo da Roca is the challenge driving through the Spanish desert Day 0 (Getting to Rouen). -
It's up to you, but we
think its worth getting to Rouen on Wednesday evening when we will be
holding a pre-run get together for all the Sucateers in a bar in the
centre of town. Alternatively, you can get up early on Day 1 to be at
the start line for the 10.00am send-off. Day 1 - Thursday 26th August. Rouen to La Rochelle (302
miles: 5-6hrs). Get to the start line early if you want the
opportunity to show off your banger, meet your fellow Sucateers and
leave town in convoy! Setting off around 10.00am, we will be making our
way down through France, through the sunflower strewn landscape of the
Loire Valley, to the stunning port of La Rochelle where we will complete
our first days driving on the coast. Day 2 - Friday 27th August. La Rochelle to San Sebastian (264
miles: 5-6hrs). Wake up the next morning to drive your banger
through the endless vineyards of the Dordogne and across the Pyrenees
mountains into Spain. You should arrive in San Sebastian in time to
watch the sunset over the idyllic shell shaped Bahia de la Conchas. Day 3 - Saturday 28th August. San Sebastian to Salamanca (283
miles: 5-6hrs). Heading right into the heart of Spain you'll
go from coastal breeze to harsh desert landscapes as your engine's
cooling system will be put to the test. Eventually you'll arrive in the
oasis that is Salamanca - one of the oldest university cities in Spain.
It is not only beautiful to look at but also has a brilliant nightlife
too. Day 4 - Sunday 29th August. Salamanca to Cabo da Roca (310
miles: 5-6hrs). The final day's driving takes you over the
Spanish border and into Portugal. You'll pass through sleepy ancient
stone villages, proud historic cities and beautiful coastal resorts
before rocking up at the finishing line at the stunning Cabo Da Roca.
The weekend's adventures then conclude with a huge party and prize
giving ceremony where a toast is raised to all those unfortunate
souls that didn't quite make it!
