On Saturday 13th September 2014, two incredible women will be taking to the skies in an effort to raise money for our charity, Touch Trust. We are a registered charity based in Cardiff, at the iconic Wales Millennium Centre. We provide unique creative movement programmes for individuals with learning disabilities, those affected by autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), complex needs, behaviour which challenges, and other vulnerable groups in the community.
Megan, the youngest, will be skydiving for her brother, Greg, a much loved regular guest of Touch Trust. His mother writes, "What we found in Touch Trust was something unique. It gave my son, Greg, the opportunity to participate in all the creative activities he loved: music, dance, art and much more. He has been made to feel an important and valued member of Touch Trust and the college of the arts. His confidence and self-esteem have simply blossomed. The friendships and connections that he has made with staff and other guests is amazing and, at times, very moving. The sessions have taught him that he himself can help other guests enjoy a musical activity by sharing and showcasing his talents."
Dilys, the oldest, also founder and director of Touch Trust, says "I'm very excited and nervous but determined to do this jump on the 13th. I've been down to Swansea twice to practice jumping in the drop zone there, as compared to the larger ones I prefer to frequent hence this will be a challenge. But it's worth it, for our lovely guests, so many of whom don't have the money and are isolated. This jump is for them." This will be Dilys' 1,128th solo skydive, as the oldest woman in the world to undertake the sport.
