Story
***Fundraising target has been increased to 600 due to the enormous genorosity I have recieved***
Hi, welcome to my donation page for my Morocco Hitch 2008....
I will be hitch-hiking from the UK to Africa from the 2nd April with a friend. We fly back on the 12th so that leaves us 10 days to cross the Channel, France, Spain and over to Morocco, covering a distance of about 1600 miles. It takes on average 6 days to complete, the fastest time being 36 hours and the longest is 2 weeks.
I plan to raise GBP500 for Link Community Development, who work in communities all over Africa helping millions of lives. A minimum of GBP300 is needed to participate in the hitch but I have set my sights a little higher.
LCD is an International Development Charity that works to create sustainable development of education in a number of sub-saharan countries. It operates throughout Ghana, Uganda, Malawi, South Africa and the UK. It works to improve education by running projects for schools and teachers in partnership with local government departments and other non-governmental organisations.
Link relies heavily on the funds raised by the hitch. To date this sum totals around £1.2 million which is a great acheivement. The hitch accounts for anywhere between 20% and 30% of their unrestricted income. This is really important as it allows them to plan ahead and ensure a little financial stability.

More facts:
The Hitch is LCD's largest fundraising event, and raises up to GBP300,000 each year to bring a better future to children in Africa.
LCD has been organising the Morocco and Prague hitches since 1992.
More than 3,100 hitchers have successfully and safely completed the hitch.
It is one of the UK's biggest student fundraising events.

I will also keep this site updated with photos and videos of our adventure.
"It is an exciting challenge and a test of endurance and all for an incredibly worthwhile cause." Sir Ranulph Fiennes
"Very lad-like." Wills Thomson
Please donate generously, the target is by no means the limit.
Cheers,
Oli
