Raising money for Kids Company

Kids Company was established by Camila Batmanghelidjh in 1996. We provide practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people. Many of the 14,000 children we support have experienced severe and multiple trauma. Often these are 'lone children' living in chronic deprivation, with little or no support from the adults in their family. <p> <p> <p> We support these incredibly courageous children and young people by offering a safe, caring, family environment. We deliver services in 38 inner-city schools, two street-level centres, an early intervention therapy house and an over 16s educational academy. In 2007 Kids Company was awarded the Liberty and Justice Human Rights Award

Running 7 ultra marathons in 7 days on 7 continents is a test of extreme physical and mental endurance. Add to this meticulous planning, logistics and even a necessary degree of fortune with weather and flight connections, and it is little surprise that no human being has attempted such a challenge.

Starting in Antartica as winter approaches the coldest, driest & windiest place on earth, myself & the team then head to Punta Arenas in Chile for Day 2, Marathon no. 2. The global flight network will then take us to Los Angeles, Sydney, Hong Kong, Johannesburg before the final marathon on day 7 in London.

We will run 350km in one week and fly 47,000 miles. Crucially, it will be a carbon neutral expedition, and our emissions will be off set through one of our sponsors, Windpower Wales,

I am running for Kids Company and specifically running for 7 kids from the Young Entrepreneurs group at Kids Company's Urban Academy.

Kids Company operates through two street level centres in south London, as well as offering therapeutic and social work services in over 30 schools.

Kids Company was awarded the Liberty and Justice Human Rights Award, 2007.
