I am competing in an endurance race across the Atacama Desert in Chile called the Atacama Crossing July '06 - How much would you sponsor someone to do the London Marathon? £10? A pound per mile (£26)? I'm doing the equivalent of 6 marathons, back-to-back, plus I'm carrying all my food and kit (about 15 kilos) for the whole week. And taking it in turns to wear a rhino costume weighing another 8 kilos and at altitude, in the heat which can reach 40degrees. Please support this supreme effort with a donation to match! Save The Rhino supports projects mainly across Africa, Asia and Indonesia, although centred mainly on the White and Black Rhino plus lesser known sub-species and is aimed at conserving the habitat the Rhino lives in. The Rhino, even now is facing the possibility of extinction and an entire subspecies (the Northern whites) has gone from 32 to 4 over the last 18 months. Your money is invested in anti-poaching patrols, education and release programmes and also specific breeding projects. You may have had the opportunity to visit Africa or India and been on a safari or visited a wildlife park in Britain, well in the future the Rhino may not be there and by supporting me you will play a part in helping conserve not only the rhino but also putting something back into African wildlife conservation helping indirectly some of the world’s most endangered species and allowing future generations to enjoy.
