Hey, i'm back!!! Got back into Worthing late on day 4!!! That's right, came rolling in a day early!!! My total mileage was 495!! That's 495 miles in just 4 days on a singlespeed mountain bike!!!! It went like this.... Saturday, Edinburgh to Matfen (Near Newcastle) 100 miles. Sunday, Matfen to York 105 miles. Monday, York to Melton Mowbray 100 miles. I then got up very early on Tuesday morning as cycled the whole 190 miles from Melton Mowbray to Worthing in a day! Starting and 7.30 and stopping for no more than 30 minutes for lunch, I arrived back in Worthing at 11.15pm!!!!! It is now Wednesday and the only casualty is the back of my heels ache an awful lot! I hope to be walking properly again very soon, and more importantly, riding again very soon!!! A huge thankyou to anyone that's sponsored me, I hope I made it worth your while! Cheers Gordon x Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online FAO www.facebook.com users... For more updates/photos/the diary please join or visit my group titled "scotland to worthing". Much much more to see!! Please feel free to email me at gordonbrooks1@hotmail.com On the 24th May 2008 I will be flying from London Gatwick up to Edinburgh nice and early, and will be starting my ride that day! My target is to make my way back to Worthing, West Sussex, approximately 500 miles away! Add to this the 100 or so miles of detours as I get lost and I will be covering near to 600 miles! I will be cycling on a mountain bike with no gears!, just to make it extra hard! The target being to complete the ride within 7 days, averaging 70-90 miles per day for 7 days. The week of cycling I will be doing will cover similar mileage to that in a week of the Tour De France! I will be reporting back at the end of every day with photos and updates, story’s etc. I will update this page on a regular basis with updates leading up to the ride, so please keep checking back and get involved! Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So no excuse not to is there!! Any donation will be much appreciated. 100% of all proceeds will go to this amazing cause. Just for one day don't buy that BLT sandwich from the bakers, or have a single rather than a double vodka and coke and donate the few pounds you save! It will soon all add up!! When you donate, your name will be displayed next to your pledge along with a comment from yourself (keep it clean!) if you so wish! So please sponsor me now! Please take a look at Chestnut Tree House's website to see what they do if you don't already know. I have visited the hospice before and it really is a fantastic place. http://www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk/default.asp?id=2 Also check out this video http://www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk/default.asp?id=111 The hospice plays home to children and young adults aged between 0-19 of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county. The Hospice costs around £2 million each year to run, they receive very little government funding and so have to rely almost entirely on the generosity of the people of Sussex to help them raise the money. So come on people, have a look at the website, and please please sponsor me! Finally I just want to say a big big thank you for taking your time to have a look. I will be happy to answer any questions by email. gordonbrooks1@hotmail.com All the best and happy donating!!
