Dear one and all,

 

I come to you cap in hand and begging bowl scuffling along at my feet...I have decided to extend my regular commute in London town, and go for a somewhat larger challenge - to follow that imaginary line that connects two of the greatest towns in the world upon two self propelled wheels and I would ask for you to sponsor me to do so.

 

Over four days in June I am planning to pedal some 500 clicks or so (apart from on the ferry journey) from London to Gay Paris, and in the process would like to raise at least £1,500 for the Cure Parkisons Trust, which has a particular meaning for me and my family. This society is primarily a research and support based charity, looking to find a cure and ease the suffering of all those afflicted by Parkinson's, and is totally dependent on charitable donations such as this... 

 

Now £1,500 would be a grand sum to raise, but I have thought that if I manage to raise the bar to anywhere near £2,000 , I will forego my usual steel steed, and instead will footle along on my folding bicycle - Basil the Brompton. So if you like the idea of me trying to keep a-pace with chaps and chappesses on great gallumphing bicycles and think that there is some comic potential to me pedalling triumphantly down L'Avenue des Champs-Élysées on one of the most curious looking chrome horses known to man, then please do dig deep and give me a fat wad of cash. It will be greatly appreciated by both me and of course the charity.

 

Oh and should anyone find themselves in Paris on Sat 5th June when I make my sweaty appearance, I will happily buy them a beer and give them a high five.
