Chapter 1 formerly known as Christian alliance housing charity offers human compassion and support to anyone in need respecting their faith, culture and social background. Within each of our projects our organisation strives to help vulnerable people change and enjoy a fulfilled life focusing on accommodation and related support services. We work in partnership with 28 local authorities and have a growing network of over 30 projects across the UK including our projects based in Southampton Kingsley House and Miriam House.
Kingsley house is a 25 room project for young homeless single adults aged between 16 - 25 years. Local to Kingsley house, Also part of Chapter 1 is Miriam House, mother and baby unit home to 7 young homeless mum's aged between 16 - 25. The young women are supported 24 hours a day throughout their pregnancy and up until thier child reaches the age of 2, working on independent living skills / self - esteem and confidence within their parenting role.
On 24th July 2011 staff at Kingsley House are going to be embarking on a fundraising 24 hour bike ride, starting out at 9am from Kingsley House, Southampton. We are going to head in one direction and head as far as we can in that direction for 24 hours only stopping for health and safety breaks.
This challenge is going to push us to our limits mentally and physically. The opportunity to sponsor us will be a minimum contribution of £2 to guess the total distance covered from start to finish. Please send mileage guess to kingsleyr1@ch1.org.uk or add to the comments page below. This will be monitored via GPS and will be updated via twitter and face book at regular intervals so you can keep track of our progress. We appreciate all the support and look forward to completing the challenge ahead.
We are hoping to raise funds to buy a Project minibus to enable us to give our residents the opportunity to participate in offsite activities, focusing on team building, developing self confidence and providing them with new experiences to develop further life skills.
