Update...23rd June
yehaa....challenge completed, all went well on our big day...we teed off at 4.30 am with the sun rising in the east and completed our 4th round around 9.00 pm with the sun setting in the west, the weather was fairly kind to us...a few showers throughout the day and stiff westerly winds. No major injuries reported on saturday morning, although dave did have a sore head on account of chris clobbering him with a golf ball..the members and staff of Fortrose and Rosemarkie golf club could not have been more welcoming and helpful..many thanks to them.
but most importantly, we have almost reached our target of £12,000, an amazing feat considering our initial target of £1,000...which is all down to you and your generosity, we plan to continue raising funds for MacMillan Cancer Support until the 1st September 08..who knows what the final total could be???
Update 17th June....10:25 am
Less than four days to go and the legs are getting shaky at the thought. Donations keep flooding in and the target is getting within reach for the 4th time through the fantastic support of everyone out there....with your support were confident we can breach the 10k target....lets stretch the mark again, we now aim to raise (or get somewhere close to) an incredible £12,000
Many many thanks from the four of us.....
Update 11th June....09:19 am
Donations are still coming in with family, friends, colleagues and suppliers coming up trumps. Thanks to Biomar, IDEMA and Precision Engineering for their recent donations.
Update 6th June…8.50 am
Exactly 2 weeks from now, we will have finished our 1st and just about to start our 2nd round of golf ..with the thought of another 2 rounds to complete for our longest day challenge…were getting excited..aprehensive..worried??..will we manage it??, good grief… some of us are even doing a bit of training ( take note ronnie!!)..but overriding all our thoughts is the reason were doing this and the huge sum of money you have pledge for Macmillan Cancer Support…SO..we are again raising the bar..£10,000 is now our target
UPDATE 3 weeks to go….20th June 08
Its amazing the support were getting from you guys and gals…3 weeks to go and again were within touching distance of our 3rd revised target..a big thank you from Chris, Dave, David and Ronnie to all online and offline sponsors who’ve contributed so much to MacMillan Cancer Support….all 4 of us are going ‘full steam ahead’ for the final push towards £7500..watch this space!!!!!!
Update 26th May - 4 weeks til our big day, 20th june '08
With your amazing support, our 2nd target is just a fingertip away, as with most things in life it doesn’t hurt to stretch things a little (?)…..we have again revised upwards our target not to £6000 but a mind boggling £7500, with just over 4 weeks to go coupled with your generosity…..hopefully we’ll at least get close...regards from the 4 lovely guys in the lovely lemon polo shirts ( ps..that big lump of rock in the background of our photo is Ben Nevis..the highest mountain in the UK)!!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
While in the 19th hole a few months ago, Chris Ryan mentioned the longest day challenge along with a few other golf events we may play over the summer, supporting Macmillan cancer support immediately struck a cord with all of us, especially one team member who has successfully fought cancer twice.
Our initial target was £1000, which we thought would be an amazing sum to raise, all 4 of us work for the same company and have done for 20+ years…so we went cap in hand to the MD… who gave us the GRAND sum of £1000, very quickly we understood the place MacMillan cancer support have in peoples hearts, so we revised our target upwards to £5000, we have 5 weeks until challenge day and are optimistic we can do this, and with your help is £6000 a pound to far???
Our longest day starts at 4.30am on 20th June 08 (not the date at the top of the page)at Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club, who, have kindly waived our fees for the day, we hope to crawl onto the 72nd green around 9.00pm
Many thanks to all our offline sponsors, from kids who've given 50p from their pocket money, to the following companies that work with us, who have donated huge sums, Akva group, Knox Nets, Gael Force Marine, Skretting, Blackhall Engineering, Biggart Ballie, Boyds Haulage, Aqualine and Boris Nets.
Please sponsor us now!
