Christmas is coming, it's pretty cold....wouldn't it be nice and warming to do some good for a change?

At about the same time that this thought formulated, an email landed in the old work inbox (PwC - greatest employer in the universe ever™) asking if we were interested in running a Barnardos shop for a day and seeing how much we could raise.....except it would be a challenge against other teams from the workplace. Once the competitive element was introduced, it didn't take long to assemble a crack team of specialists - the venue? North Finchley Barnardos. The date? 10 December 2009.

So if you're local and free to come down on the day to buy some stuff, please do so. We've tapped up all our contacts so should have a number of additional items (including a number of Ted Baker sample stock) for sale as well. Otherwise, would be hugely appreciated if you were able to contribute to our fundraising total please - we're aiming to raise a billion pounds, as you can see from our Billion for Barnardos (BFB) tagline, so any donations will be gratefully received. It's also a chance for some of you bankers out there to give yourselves some positive PR.....give us some money and all (well, some) will be forgiven.

On a serious note, all the money raised is going to a good cause. Some details on the charity itself for you, in case you're not aware of the work they do:

- Barnardo’s support 100,000 children, young people and families each year.
- They work across the UK in nearly 400 projects that support children and young people in their local community.
- Support is offered to vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people.
- Areas of our work include: disability, poverty, homelessness, drug misuse, sexual abuse, mental health and domestic violence.

Give generously and help us beat that lot from IT...everyone knows they have no friends.

The BFB team.
