On Sunday, 18th September, at a very early hour Ceri Davies, Head of Maths, Pupil Development and Parent Abuse at Orley Farm School will lead an intrepid group of “Lads and Dads” on a 40-mile cycle odyssey through the prep schools of London and Berkshire.
It’s hoped that our endeavour will raise money for two charities; The Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund and The Friends of Amani Children’s Home.
Our journey will take us from Orley Farm, to Sunningdale, to Eagle House, and finally to Ludgrove School in Berkshire. Henry van Straubenzee was tragically killed near Ludgrove where he was working as a junior master during his gap year.
To honour Henry a memorial fund was established in his name (http://www.henryvanstraubenzeemf.org.uk/) which aims to lift Ugandan children out of poverty through education. This small charity forms partnerships with local schools to help them become centres of excellence and ensure that even the poorest children have access to high quality education.
The Amani Children's Home takes care of orphans and street-children at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. It rescues children from malnutrition, homelessness, and abuse. Amani supports over 140 children and is committed to providing a safe place for children to grow in mind, body and spirit. (www.amanikids.org)
All monies raised will be evenly split between the two charities.
Please make your donation using this page and do remember to fill in the gift aid section if you are a UK taxpayer as it helps maximise the amount we are able to raise.
Thank you very much for making any donation.
