Story
A gorgeous orphan foal called Jack is the 100 rescue Bransby has carried out this year, arriving on 30 June. Jack and his mother were abandoned and the mare was in such a bad way that, very sadly, she had to be put to sleep on humane grounds. The RSPCA contacted our team in Stoke Prior to see if we could take on the care of poor Jack, and thankfully we were able to offer him a home. Looking after an orphan foal is a huge commitment of both time and resources and needs to be taken on by experienced people in order to give the animal the best chance of healthy physical and psychological development.
Almost every one of the 100 rescued horses and ponies have arrived at Bransby directly from a situation of suffering, neglect or abandonment. This is three times the number of animals that the Charity brought in during the same period last year and reflects the difficult times the horse world is experiencing at present. Bransby now has over 450 equines in its direct care, more than at any time in its history, as well as 150 animals placed in loan homes through our Friend for Life fostering scheme.
Sadly Bransby cannot rescue every horse in need and the charitable sector is already stretched to the limit to cope with unprecedented numbers of welfare cases. Bransby will continue to do everything it can to turn around the lives of innocent animals like Jack and we are hugely grateful to all our supporters for enabling us to assist so many horses and provide them with the happy, healthy and secure future they each deserve.
Please help Bransby carry on rescuing animals in need like Jack by making a donation today, however small.
