My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am continually watching my wife Sally, and our family, deal with the effect that Alzheimer's Disease has had on her Grandad, Jack. I wanted to set myself a BIG challenge to raise vital funds for Alzheimer's Society.
On 8th June 2012 I will attempt to complete a solo swim of the full length of lake Windermere. The lake is approx 10.5 miles long and, in places, up to 225ft deep.
Sally was a main carer for her Grandad. In September 2010 Jack moved into a care home. We, as a family, remain very much involved in his care and wellbeing.
Alzheimer's Society is a charity which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia. Their fight for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. These include: local support services, telephone and online help, campaigning and lobbying to raise awareness, and a research programme pursuing the ultimate goal of finding a cure.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
