Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
On the 15th May i will be joining other Alzheimers society members to walk up snowdon at night. We are setting off at 8pm ,and walking by torchlight aiming to reach the top around midnight onwards and down again to greet the dawn and a well earned breakfast ! We are raising funds for the Alzheimers society and promoting awareness of Dementia along the way.
When my late husband Bob was diagnosed with dementia, there was no help or advice available. The Alzheimers society are building up a network of advice and information centres, support groups and activities in your local area. This will help carers and people living with dementia to live full and happy lives. I have a back problem which has limited my physical activity in recent years. I am now going to the gymn and increasing my walking gradually. I have stopped smoking ! I have six months to get fit.I The snowdon challenge will be a massive accomplishment for me and a positive way of remembering my wonderfull husband Bob.
It is now Febuary, I haven't updated this page before now because it makes me cry. Feb 14th, valentines day was our weddding aniversary. We were married for 30 years. Alzheimers disease and other dementias can effect young and old. My grandma and my aunty had Alzheimers disease. It is heartbreaking to see someone you love living with dementia, but so much can be done to improve people's lives. I am a volunteer with the Alzheimers society and see firsthand what is being done to fight the disease. I am doing the Snowdon Midnight Challenge to raise awareness of dementia and in memory of those i have lost. Please help me raise much needed funds by donating as much as you can. Thankyou.
Ps, I am still plugging away at the gymn and slowly getting fitter. Only three months to go now!!
How scary! Only a month to go. My training came to a bit of a standstill as i had an operation on my toe. But hopefully it all be' allright on the night ' as they say. Back to the gymn and the dog walking every day now and i will be trundling around with my sponser forms, so please give as much as you can to spur me on even more. Thanks, Helen
