Thanks for visiting the Ampleforth College English Department's Poverty for Poverty fundraising page.
Yesterday, on 25 March 2009, we in the English Department did our lessons, games, activities and duties in silence. It was difficult but enjoyable and we have been delighted with the generosity of those who have sponsored us so far. If anyone would still like to sponsor us, please do.
We want to draw attention to those who are denied an education due to poverty. We will sponsor a student or students at the school of Saint Lorenzo in Santiago, Chile. Saint Lorenzo is a school linked to Ampleforth through the Manquehue Apostolic Movement (a lay Catholic Movement in Santiago). Saint Lorenzo is a school in the shanty town area of Santiago, and the students come from families living in much poverty. Our support for Saint Lorenzo is through Face-Faw, the Ampleforth College students' charity organisation.
Sponsorship through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Ampleforth Abbey/Face-Faw receives your sponsorship faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
As English teachers we spend an awful lot of time talking, so this was a real challenge for us, and any sponsorship will be gratefully received!
Many thanks, the Ampleforth College English Department.
