Our Gorgeous Boy Jamie Statham West was born a healthy 8lb 1oz at 10.14am on Friday 26th January 2007. On Thursday 6th December 2007 at just 10 months and 10 days old Jamie passed away in his cot.

In May 2008 after an inquest we learnt that Jamie was perfect in every way and there was no explanation as to why he had to die.

In order to keep his memory alive some family members will be taking part in the Manchester Run which is 10km. This will take place on the 17th May 2009. But also on the 16th May we will be organising a Mile walk so we can raise awareness of Cot Death and if possible raise some money to help fund vital research to stop more than 300 babies dying every year for no apparent reason.

FSID The Foundation of the Study of Infant Deaths need as much help as possible and every penny donated will help in some way!

I am aware that there are many fundraising events going on all the time and I really appreciate the fantastic help and support we have received so far. Last year with all the fundraising we cant have been far off raising £7000. I do feel bad asking for more donations but even if you can only spare 50p that would be great - ANYTHING! EVERY PENNY COUNTS!!!!

Jamie will become a BIG BROTHER soon. His little Brother or Sister should hopefully arrive safe and well in July. Jessica is very excited but it breaks my heart to know Jamie will never get to meet his new sibling. To say I feel nervous and anxious is an understatement. I dont know how we will sleep when the new baby arrives I will be on pins. Each night checking on Jessica I am not happy with hearing her breathe I have to see her move to know she is ok. If we can help support FSID maybe we can help stop others families from this nightmare. No words can describe the pain of finding your son to see that he has died in a place he should have been safe. Its something that happens in Movies not real life but unfortuntately for us it is all too real!

Jamie was such a smiley, happy boy. He adored his Big Sister Jessica and used to have great fun chasing her in and out of the living room, holding onto my hands. He wasnt walking but I'm sure it wouldnt of taken him long, he loved his feet. Jessica only had to look at him and he would smile or burst into the giggles.

I can hear him laughing if I think hard enough. He loved his musical instruments, his cymbals, tambourine and maracas, along with the keyboard were his favourites.

He loved Bath time too especially when Jessica joined in. He would squeel with excitement and try to get away from her. It was so funny to watch and it would often melt my heart to see both my babies so happy.

I miss everything about him, I miss making up his dinners, I miss bathing him, singing to him, kissing him, stroking his hair it was so soft and reminded me of the day I gave birth to him. I miss drying him and rubbing the talc in, I miss pushing his pram, cuddling him, feeding him, changing him and dressing him. EVERYTHING!

Over the past year I believe our family has grown stronger and not a day goes by where we dont talk or think about him. I believe it is important not to forget him and even now, people mention him as if he was here and I feel this is what gets me through the daily torture of not watching my boy grow up, not being able to learn more about him and of course not getting my kisses and cuddles that I so desperately crave. I am happy that he is etched in peoples hearts, because how could anybody possibly forget such a gorgeous gorgeous boy!
