I seem to have volunteered myself to take part in a football marathon - to raise money for Tackle Africa. Unlikely as that may sound, I have been out jogging (I believe it's pronounced 'yogging') almost every day for the past few weeks, and intend to continue doing so right up until the event. It's a really worthwhile cause, so any contributions you can make are hugely appreciated.
Tackle Africa is a wonderful charity that uses the medium of football to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS amongst young people across the continent.
For the uninitiated, the football marathon is a continuous 6-a-side tournament that runs for 12 hours. It consists of the following (take a deep breath)
- 32 teams that will be playing 20 min games on continuous rotation - A squad of 8 players with rolling subs - An average of 23 games of football during the day - Players cover roughly 32 miles during the day (averaging 4mph)
This is the first time I have taken part in the event, but the team I'm playing with entered last year too and raised a big pile of cash for the charity. Please help me reach my target and the team to replicate last years success!
Thank you!
