*****STOP PRESS*****

I completed the Moonwalk in 8 hours 40 minutes. Thank you to all those who have sponsored me. Your support meant a great deal to me on the night, and will make a huge difference to those who benefit from the funds raised.

My blog has a blow by blow account of the night and my photos can be seen on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=95298&id=647127174&l=4be0902bb1

*****STOP PRESS*****

Hiya! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page, and I hope you will stay long enough to leave your card details behind.

On 16 May 2009 I will be doing the Moonwalk. Possibly not in a Michael Jackson sty-lee but it really depends what mood I’m in at the time. No, instead I will be walking 26.2 miles through the streets of London, starting at midnight. Yes, the time I usually get snuggled in to bed for a good night’s sleep. Oh, and did I mention I’ll be doing it in a bra.

And why am I doing this? Well it is a question I have been asking myself a lot on my training walks, but at the end of the day it is for a very good cause. Breast cancer.

Put simply (info from Cancer Research UK);

  • Breast cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK.
  • In the UK in 2005 more than 45,500 women were diagnosed with breast cancer, that’s around 125 women a day.
  • Each year around 300 men in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Breast cancer incidence rates have increased by more than 50% over the last twenty-five years.

So the chances are that someone you know has been affected by breast cancer, and by raising oodles of sponsorship money we can make the situation better.

I did once walk 15 miles when I was 13, but I’m not sure that is going to help me too much. So I’ve set up a blog to track the serious amount of training I’m going to have to put in for this – check it out at www.paulasmoonwalkblog.blogspot.com.  If you want to join me on a walk, give me a shout.

So, please, please, please sponsor me. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. If you are a UK taxpayer, please ensure you GiftAid your donation as this means WalktheWalk get even more money but it doesn’t cost you any extra.

Thanks a million in advance. I can’t believe I’m doing this. Did I mention the bra?

Paula
