Hey guys thanks for visiting my fundraising page! Thanks to those of you who have already donated money and shown an interest in what I have been doing these last 9 months with Latin Link.
Well I am quickly coming towards the end of my first year here. I originally signed up for 10months but I will be coming back out to Argentina again in September 09 for another year. I am really enjoying supporting the work of the church here. My work is mainly concentrated on children, teenagers and young adults.
I am going to a poor neighbourhood where I am helping to run the Sunday school. There are many challenges here with big single parent families and children left alone to fend for themselves. I also go to the women´s bible study in the neighbourhood so that I can get to know some of their mums, aunts, or grandmas.
At church I am working with the teenagers and young adults, preparing talks and quiet time notes for them about the bible and about life style.
Outside of church I am helping to support a lady how has five children between the ages of 8 and 13. Four of the children are here nieces and nephews. They were abandoned by their mum. I go twice a week to help with household chores, cooking and helping the kids with their homework. Each week I like to take something along to help with feeding the family as they really struggle to make ends meet.
Latin Link members need to raise their own support. I know that things maybe difficult financially at the moment but there are ways of giving without having to give your own money e.g. sponsored events, car washes, cakes sales, bag packing at M&S etc. To quote Tesco, Every little helps!
