Story
Thanks for taking the time to consider my fundraising page.
I rashly agreed to take up the challenge of cycling from London to Paris, when a friend popped the question after a few glasses of wine one evening! It was only when my head cleared the following morning that I realised the enormity of the challenge. The ride was roughly 300 miles to be completed over 4 days. With a little off-road cycling experience and no experience of using a road bike, it was a daunting task.
My training started on rather icy mornings back in February. But all the hard work has paid off as I was able to complete the route without serious difficulty apart from one crash, which left me with some pretty bruises, and a couple of punctures.
Riding through Paris in a large group being cheered on by the crowds down the Champs Elysees was a special moment.
All the effort is in support of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, who cared for a good friend last year in her final days.
I am amazed that I have reached my target of raising £10.000 thanks to the generosity of many kind friends. There is no harm in beating the target so, If you would like to make a contribution, that would be marvellous.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and secure. It’s a very efficient way to sponsor me as Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
All the best,
Paul
