For those that know me the news that I am doing this challenge may have come as a bit of a shock.

It is certainly a fantastic challenge and an opportunity for me to do something meaningful and give something back to society and to those who deserve a better future.

I will be hiking hard and sleeping rough in the mountains and cloud forests of Peru on my way to the ancient city of the Incas in Machu Picchu.  In between fighting off man eating animals and a multitude of deadly insects (only joking mom) I hope to have a bit of fun and take in some sights on the hike.

However, before that I have a lot of training to do and the best way to spur me on is through making my target thermometer increase towards that minimum target figure of £3000. I would dearly love to raise more than the minimum so if the thermometer does manage to hit 100% please don't let it put you off donating.

By the way, I will be paying all of my own costs for this trip so please don't think that you are sponsoring me on a good old jolly!!!  All the proceeds from your sponsorship will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
