My story

In February 2012 I shall set off from Douglas Grandstand, Isle of Man to cycle 18,000miles in an attempt to break the current world record  of 164days, set by Vin Cox in August2010. It will be the ultimate endurance challenge.

I shall cycle over 135miles (216km) every day for 5months through freezing temperatures, soaring heat, rainstorms and debilitating headwinds. I shall be using GPS tracking that will allow people from around the world to follow my progress on a daily basis. Updates, photographs and videos will also be followed through my website: www.paulcyclesworld.com

There is also a Facebook FanPage, Twitter, Youtube and Flickr to follow my progress and updates before, during and after the event.

I shall continue to raise support and awareness for Article25 who design and delivers buildings and structures for those in greatest need worldwide. To start with it is importance to realize that there are over 620million children who do not have decent or safe housing in the world. Article25 aims to help where possible

The 25th Article of the Universal Declaration of the Human Rights is the only article which refers to the built environment. It says that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family this includes housing, food, clothing and medical care.

What are their principals?
# They build schools, bridges, clinics and homes (as opposed to houses, they don't build a shelter but a place to call home)
# They provide free or not for profit construction services to aid agencies, charities, NGOs (non governmental organizations) and communities
# They share skills, train workers and emphasis community participation as their priority
# They give people buildings which are a lasting tool for combating poverty.
